Workout Solution
In doing this workout, we have to keep in mind some of the evaluation criteria stated in the workout’s block. I would name: 1) the creativity and originality of your holiday’s plan, 2) some previous research on it and 3) a “good” structure that lets the assessment team easily compare how much money and time you plan to save in using sharing solutions instead of conventional ones.
1) Regarding this criterion, I would not dare to affirm clear formal instructions, though some elements can offer us enough hints. For instance, workouts including visual formats are more likely to score better in creativity than those that don’t. Originality doesn’t necessarily mean being genuine. For that reason it is clear to me that holidaying abroad scores better than doing it at your home country. As well, social interactions with your “sharing” peers will count as positive in the assessment. “Commercial” interactions will fare as less creative and original. For instance, traveling with friends and making collaborative consumption in sustainable ways is a plus.
2) Attending to the second criterion, you have to demonstrate some relevant investigation on your holidays. For sure, taking into account any possibility scores well. In this sense, investigating alternatives via Internet search engines as skyscanner, trivago, booking and tripadvisor helps. Though remember these resources are not “sharing platforms” as they don’t channel P2P interactions. Failing to realize this nuance may diminish your score. As well, overall and detailed planning of your holidays is a strong indicator that you conduct (in the past or in the future) research in advance to holidaying.
3) As for the “good” structure criterion, I understand that providing a chart in which you compare conventional and sharing solutions will help the assessment team to evaluate your effort. Time and money is what counts in this part. Remember that assigning search engines solutions (i.e. booking or skyscanner) in the “sharing” alternatives counts as wrong.
Nice holidays to all! and find here an example:
A group of young doctors decided to make a trip to engage with people with certain needs and try to help them while they visit a new country and even learn new medicine techniques. They decided to go to India and choose a community to collaborate with for 3 months. As recent graduates they need to save as much as possible so sharing economy platforms are the best option for them because they also contribute to socialize with local residents.
Here is the result for their journey:
- Flight tickets: as young (yet unemployed) professionals they use skyscanner and decided to travel on a weekday to get cheaper tickets. This is not a “sharing solution” but they don’t have any other alternative. To reach the airport they took Cabify. Once they where in India they look for sharing car options.
- Accommodation: They wanted to rent an apartment using Airbnb or any other house sharing platform, but the community they wanted to help was a little bit away from the city. As the main objective was to engage with local people they decided to look for hospitality in local families, that where happy to accommodate them. As retributions they will help with housekeeping duties and English lessons.
- Food: They contacted a local hospital and offer their services three times per week, as a response for this action the hospital offered them free meal tickets.
- Tour guides: it turned out that the elders of this community where the ones that best knew the region, exchanging talks while they helped them they could elaborate a worthy tour guide, they accomplished it in the best way, saving money and time.
This is only a broad example but we hope your answers follow somehow a similar approach plus the additional creative structure and presentation.
