Women at the helm! / ¡Mujeres al mando!

Hello,

Before ending March, I would like to dedicate this post to Women and the struggle for equality. It is worth repeating in this blog that United Nations celebrates the 8th of March the International Day of Women’s Day.

In 2014, the centenary of the first joint official celebrations on March 8 in several countries of the International Women’s Day is fulfilled. Demonstrations and joint events were organized, coinciding with the start of World War I, in order to protest against the war. Much has happened since then and now women even go to war as combatants. Although the objectives are always changing, the challenges remain: the struggle for equality with men and self-development of women as individuals in society are still alive.

I share this Sheryl Sandberg talk in which the COO of Facebook exposes the reasons why there are so few women leaders at the top and offers three tips to not give up and promote themselves as leaders at work.

And in that same vein, I share another video Sheryl Sandberg recently posted on her facebook wall. “This is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen illustrating how when women and men do the same things but they are seen in completely different ways. Really worth watching

Enjoy both and keep on struggling for equality

Dedicated to all women and, in this occasion, to Carmen Palomino, Co-Director of GAIA Program.

Hola,
